[edit] Overview
Bow was founded in 1885 as an independent day school for boys aged 3 to 13, and moved to its present site in 1888. In 1976 the school was incorporated into the Durham School Foundation and formally became the Preparatory School for Durham School. From 2006 girls will be admitted for the first time.
It is set in its own beautiful grounds on the edge of Durham City, overlooking the magnificent and world-famous Cathedral.
The school has excellent specialist classrooms, including a well equipped science laboratory and computer room. The computer system is networked and is linked to the Internet.
The school has sporting and cultural links with Scuola Media Leonardo da Vinci, Rome, and is in the final stages of twinning with a Junior School in Eastern China!
