[edit] Overview

Baston is a small, traditional, non-selective independent day school, located in south-east England, on the outskirts of Bromley, close to bus routes, stations and central London. The school offers continuity of high quality education for girls aged from two-and-a-half to sixteen and currently comprises around 150 pupils. We aim to provide a full academic and practical education in a vibrant, happy and supportive environment. This web site is designed to give you a glimpse of life at Baston School, as well as an indication of our curriculum and facilities. We hope it will encourage you to visit us, to meet our staff and pupils and see for yourselves what we have to offer.

Founded in 1933, Baston School grew rapidly to accommodate around 100 pupils prior to the Second World War. During the war the school was evacuated, first to Hope Cove in Devon and then to Galhampton in Somerset.

Baston returned to its present location in 1945.

During the post-war years, the school again increased its size and continually improved its facilities to reach the high standard of education and accommodation it offers today.

Baston School Moves Ahead|17/10/2006|It was with great pleasure that I took up the position of Headmistress of Baston School in September 2005. I had been teaching here as Head of Geography from 1981 - 1988 and came to respect and admire the special qualities of the school and of all that we offer the girls in our care.

Whatever your daughter's abilities, Baston will provide her with excellent teaching in small classes, backed up by a pastoral care system which is second to none. High fliers will be stimulated to achieve their full potential, while the less academically gifted will be given all the individual coaching and attention needed for their success. Our 2005 GCSE pass rate for five subjects was 100%, with 21% A*-A.

We pride ourselves in bringing out the best in every girl who passes through our hands. Each girl leaves us not only having achieved her academic potential, she will also be mature, confident and ready to cope with further challenges. Do come and visit us and see for yourselves how your daughter could benefit from a Baston education.
